Description

The GTX turbochargers feature various improvements to the "GT" ball-bearing turbos that have been the gold standard for years. The GTX design incorporates a billet compressor wheel which is much more efficient than the older cast wheels and slightly lighter. The extended blade tips provide larger surface area without increasing wheel diameter, resulting in higher output without sacrificing response time. The compressor housing features an anti-surge chamber that allows excess air to recirculate within the housing without causing spikes in boost pressure.

In addition to these changes, the Generation II GTX turbos make a few more improvements. The compressor wheel has some slight revisions to make it even more efficient, so you once again build more boost without increasing spool time. The compressor housings are also all-new, and feature fully machined inlets and outlets. The machined inlets result in better flow, and the machined outlets make it easier to create a more perfect seal and reduce the possibility of boost leaks. The compressor housings also include a machined speed sensor port, should you ever decide to add one.

This kit uses Garrett GTX2860 or GTX2867 Gen II turbos which have been machined and modified with our own custom adapters to make a complete kit ready to bolt on the 300ZX. Please note that these are ball bearing turbos and will require 5-bolt downpipes, and we strongly recommend running supporting mods like upgraded injectors, manifolds, and intercooler piping. Bolt-on Kits come pre-assembled (may still require reclocking), tuner kits come with the parts but will require full assembly. As with any 28-series turbine housing, you will also need to machine the block on the driver's side slightly to clear.

Assembly:

Turner 'Assembly Required'. Turbos are machined, but you are responsible for putting all the parts on accordingly. This saves us time, and you money, so it's a win win situation.

Bolt-On Pre-Assembled w/ Actuators, and closed as close to mounting as possible. Depending on which Manifolds you are using, slight clocking might be necessary.

Warranty Disclaimer
  • These are brand new, genuine units direct from our authorized Garrett distributor and builder. They are not rebuilds or substituted with any other brand.
  • Garrett's warranty is a 90-day period against manufacturing defects, and accepted on a "per inspection basis." It is extremely rare for new CHRAs or turbos to be faulty or defective from the factory. If failure is suspected, they will need to be sent in at the customer's expense, and they will be torn down and inspected by Turbos Direct. Garrett's warranty does not cover shipping charges in either direction.
  • If following a fresh engine rebuild, which includes new turbos, smoky or oily exhaust is almost always a result of a bad rebuild and not faulty turbochargers.
  • Installation errors, abuse, mishandling, or failure from external factors (foreign object damage, oil-fuel contamination, oil starvation, overheating, etc) are not manufacturing defects. Nearly all premature failures are caused by an external factors such as these, and are not covered under warranty.
  • In the event that you experience a failure, and the cause is determined not to be a manufacturing defect, you will be responsible for re-assembly and return shipping.
